چکیده

Africa is the second continent suffering from soil compaction; studies of this phenomenon must be multiplied in order to overcome problem. Very few have been conducted Tunisia understand compaction, its causes and effect on properties. The research was experimental field at Higher Institute Agronomy Chott Mariam, Sousse, Tunisia. main objective study evaluate different speed tractor compaction soil, that is, no (C0), 1 (C2) = 4 km h-1, 2 (C3) 9 h-1 hydraulic physical properties a silt loam texture under three natural moisture conditions: H0, H1 (15 days later), H2 (30 later). Each test run limited one pass. Undisturbed cores were collected topsoil (0-10 cm), 10-20 cm subsoil (20-30 cm) below trace wheel site. Soil level determined by penetration resistance using penetrologger. Bulk density then impact two frequency passages conditions compaction. For initial bulk 1.38 Mg m-3. After pass, highest degree observed with (C1) which signi?cantly changed resulting values up 1.74 m-3 compacted H1, significantly above critical value 1.6 for soils clay content 17.5%. high affected topsoil. results demonstrate degrees levels could greatly influence ways. Even relatively low water contents, capacity, substantial top induced after Key words: speed, moisture, resistance, density.

Assessment of Crawler Tractor Effects on Soil Surface Properties

Skidding operations can cause considerable and wide spread soil disturbance. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of ground skidding operations on soil compaction, moisture content, and total porosity at different levels of slope and traffic frequency. Four levels of traffic intensity (3, 8, 13, and >13 passes of a Crawler Tractor Onezhets ? 110) and three levels of slope ( ...

Adsorption of arsenic on soil under different soil moisture conditions

The adsorption study was conducted on three Japanese soils with different soil properties to characterize the adsorption pattern of Arsenic (As). Double tube method was used to find out the effect of soil moisture levels on As adsorption. For this study, besides double tube method, conventional batch method also was used. The As adsorption showed two phase kinetics. An initial and rapid adsorpt...

Effects of Skidder Passes and Slope on Soil Disturbance in Two Soil Water Contents

Skidding operations induce changes in soil physical properties, which have the potential to impact soil sustainability and forest productivity. Our objective was to investigate the effects of traffic frequency, trail slope, and soil moisture content on soil compaction, total porosity and rut depth. Treatments included a combination of three different traffic intensities (3, 7, and 14 passes), t...

Soil Compaction: Effects and Amelioration

Soil compaction was identified as the cause of ‘growth stunting disease’ in sultana grapes and ‘red death’ in cotton at the Lower Orange River and Vaalharts irrigation schemes. In an experiment growth stunting disease was eradicated completely and yields of sultanas increased substantially by deep cultivation, which eliminated compacted soil layers. Ripping increased the quality of tobacco, and...
